Patriots Equal Best Victory Run From Brady Years with Triumph Over Jets
Rookie Henderson has scored five touchdowns during the current campaign
New England equaled their top unbeaten stretch since the Brady period as they beat AFC East opponents the Jets 27-14 in the NFL
First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson shone brightly with three TDs as the Patriots notched an eighth consecutive victory for the first time since legendary quarterback Brady's final season with the team in the 2019 season
Signal-caller Maye accumulated 281 yards and a touchdown, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
The triumph increases the New England's lead at the summit of the division as they advanced to nine wins and two defeats, with the Jets bottom after falling to two wins and eight losses
The visitors had taken the lead at Foxborough with quarterback Justin Fields rushing for a five-yard TD to conclude the Jets' initial series
But the Patriots answered in the second period as the rookie rushed for two seven-yard touchdowns before the ball carrier grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the rear of the endzone midway through the third quarter to make it 21-7
"It was a crucial moment for him delivering, and it's been excellent for him to keep getting these reps," Maye commented on Henderson. "He aims to be great."
Justin Fields threw to John Metchie late in the third period to reduce the lead for the Jets but Borregales booted a two field goals in the final period as the Patriots sealed the win
