19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid season, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Currently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

This represents his first title since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt since March of the previous year.

Success also means the Russian has achieved 21 titles at 21 different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive approach and regular reactions on court had prompted observers to wonder if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, striving to approach the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair exchanged break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial tour title, gained dominance to push for a third set.

Moutet defended four early chances in a tight deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he secured the title with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
